Wonderful book
We have only done the first book but love it already. It gets the kids reading and comprehending without having to write a book report. It ties in grammar and spelling as well. I am certain that we will do more of these books instead of the 'boring' (but necessary) grammar and spelling books.

This is my second year using this curriculum and I like that it has grammar rules, spelling, and cursive. Although its not elaborate and to intensive, it gets what they need to know across. 6 Spelling words per week, and a few letters of cursive so its not overwhelming and allows student to master the subject.

Covers a lot if material and subjects, but is VERY dated.
I love that thus covers so many aspects of language arts from grammar, to writing, to reading, spelling and research. But it is very dated. This series was put together in the 90's and does not cover modern research. It also tells students how to take notes which is great, but does so in an old fashioned sense. "You already know how to take notes, if someone calls on the phone for your father and he is not home, you take a note for him." My daughter's father has a cell phone, so he always receives his call, and he also can get texts and voicemails, so she has never had to take a phone note.

I have been using this program for all my kids. I like the interaction between parent teacher and child. Also, the books that the kids read with it are historically educational, honorable, and interesting.

"This is a great curriculum that covers everything!!! The only thing i substitute is writing cause I really like the I.E.W writing program other than that this covers reading and comprehension also. :) win win all around. "

It covers all the subjects dealing with Language Arts but doesn't seem over complicated or intense. I am looking forward to trying this curriculum.

I have used LLATL for grades 1-5 and love it. I love how the grammar is based on a book or literature passage. It incorporates spelling, reading, writing, and grammar all in one curriculum.

I chose LLATL Orange Student Book because I'm tired of the time, energy, and printing costs involved in building my own comprehensive language arts program. The is full and well paced. My advanced 3rd grader will be working with my 4th grader. We all enjoy this program.

This appears to cover a lot of bases as it walks us through the concepts. I like that language arts concepts are presented in the context of literature, rather than given as obscure random facts. We've been using an online curriculum over the past year. Our learning environment has felt way too isolated and is stifling a love of learning. We're excited to get back to "real" books."
Ember K on Mar 10, 2016
I used red book with my son this last year and plan to use the yellow book this next year. I will be using the tan book with my daughter and I am super excited. I'm previewing the novels both will have to read and love them! The curriculum is easy to use and not overwhelming!
