Love this reader!!!!
Our ten year old son has struggled tremendously with reading. I finally found this book, and he is progressing remarkably well. The stories are short, which is beneficial to us. I ask him questions after reading each story to work on reading comprehension. He gets so excited when he passes a story. (He reads/re-reads five stories per day until he can read them fluently.) There is plenty of repetition with the words and phonograms so he is actually learning and retaining the words.

Do not let the fact this this is labeled "kindergarten" deter you from purchasing it for older kids. It is more advanced than any other kindergarten readers I've seen. The stories also display good morals and biblical values, which I love.

I am using this in concert with Spell to Write and Read. This is a phonics based program that is really good as well.

My son has been asking me to order the next two books in this series as we are almost through with At the Farm. I am delighted to do so.

Thank you for a wonderful product!

My sons love the American Language Series. The stories are in short chunks and not too overwhelming for them. Just enough to help them gain confidence in their independent reading!

This ALS series of readers contains lots of repetition of phonograms used in simple words. This repetition is what my dyslexic child needs to master the words that use the various phonograms introduced in his phonics program.
