I am trying this out for a high school elective. I have used Lifepac Accounting and Health with my older children in the past and was pleased with the curriculum.

Is this directed at girls in a way that it would not be very fitting for a boy to use also?

BEST ANSWER: Per the publisher: The Family Consumer Science is not written specifically for girls or geared only towards them.
In fact, in their product description they specifically reference male students: Does your child know how to cook a meal, sew his clothes, decorate a room, or care for a baby? With LIFEPAC Family & Consumer Science for grades 7-12, he will!
I am trying to figure out how to use this curriculum. I see no lesson plans even though it says they are included on some webites. Has anybody used it, and how did you go about that? 1 unit a week?

BEST ANSWER: We used this last year. There is not really a break down of lessons. I would just assign so many pages per day for my daughter to finish. If you want to use it for one semester, count how many days you have and divide the number of pages by the number of days. There are self tests to assign throughout each unit and a final for each unit in the center of the student workbooks. The teacher guide mainly consists of answers to workbook questions and tests.
