I bought Reading Street because it sounded great as an all in one Language Arts program My son is in first grade and this was my first year homeschooling This program is geared toward a classroom environment and as a first time homeschooler I felt lost This program would be good for someone who has a background in teaching and/or previous homeschool experience The guide on the side had too much information and no real guide for how to use this program in a homeschool environment Everything is geared toward a group setting and I had to do a lot of prep and extra research to use this program It would be nice if the company made a homeschool version of the guide on the sideOverall my son did learn a lot and the textbooks have great stories and my son did enjoy reading them The worksheets (you print all of them off) seemed to do well on enforcing the informationI am changing programs this year and finding one that is geared toward homeschooling

I wanted something more engaging for my students that I could use with daily phonemic awareness. I found something I wanted on Teachers Pay Teachers that mentioned this program. I'm willing to give it a try to see if it helps my struggling students.

This is the curriculum which is being used in our school district. The teachers recommend it.

Because it was the program my kid was learning in school, easier to keep him on it than change everything completely.

What does the parent guide consist of? Am I missing anything if i don't have one?
A shopper on Oct 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The Parent Guide is just a brief promotional brochure. You are not missing anything of significance to the operation of the program if you do not have one.
Do I have to print all the student sheets myself? And Do I need one kit per child if I'm teaching 2 kids at once?
hol_p on Jul 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have officially started using this curriculum yet but it does come with a work text but almost all worksheets will be printed from the cd which I see as an advantage for teaching multiple children. The disk included contains a vast amount of resources. I would say two kits are not absolutely required unless you want your children reading at the exact same time. However having two sets of books would be great for close reading and guided reading making it much more efficient. I personally thought this set was a great value. The hardback unit books are outstanding quality with a wonderful selection of texts to read. If budgeting for two sets is possible I would definitely reccomend it. I used Reading Street for Kindergarten as part of our reading curriculum and I loved it. I do reccomend adding some sort of phonics curriculum with. I personally loved Phoics Level A from Plaid.
